An ADHD coach provides an ongoing relationship for a client who is seeking to change a specific aspect of their life. Usually they have made a change at work, at school, or in their personal life and their ability to cope in this new environment is being challenged. They may also have been recently diagnosed with attention deficit and they would like to educate themselves and to find a way to compensate for unlearned skills.
As an ADHD coach, I begin by assessing the structures that the client uses to manage their time, their memory, and their “stuff”. We then develop a strategy that allows them to use better management skills to reach a goal that they have chosen. ADHD coaching takes a very pragmatic approach to helping the client to set priorities, budget time in their weekly planner, and manage their “stuff.” An attention deficit coach can also help to maintain motivation while the client is establishing a new routine. The coaching relationship is individually tailored to meet the needs of each person.
